brother gave me a clam he picked from sentosa. the shell was closed. so i just left it on my table. then after a while, i glanced at it, and it was opened! i thought maybe the clam was slightly open all along just that i didnt really notice. so i just picked up my nail file on my table and stick it inside abit to open it further. it clammed shut on my nail file. i had to pry my file off. so now i know. it's alive!! so i put it in a tiny container with tap water. it's a tiny clam anyway. it still didnt open for awhile. not sure if it's dead. but i just decided to put quite alot of salt in it, afterall it's from the sea. it opened!! and the siphons (one tube for intake, one for output) extended =)) so cute! very fascinating.
can you see the siphons?? haha. the bigger one is the in tube i think. can you also see this whitish thing around the rims of the shell? like lips of the shell. it's the muscles that hold it close. but now it's open so the muscles are relaxed.
anyway i changed the container to a bigger one. last i checked, the muscular foot was sticking out also. but there's no sand or stones for it to adhere to...
